The Dressing Screen was born online in 2018 by a quartet of fashion mavens who share a love for craftsmanship and the niche brands that define innate Italian finesse and nonchalant chic.
With the spirit of a well-curated local boutique and driven by the passion to support artisan practices, our female-driven e-commerce platform takes you through our galaxy of like-minded icons, their lives and to the brands that inspire… without even buying a plane ticket.

Good question. The Dressing Screen is that sort of rare piece of antique furniture that conjures images from a time when people took their time getting dressed, relishing in every layer they put on. Through a modern digital screen, our community renders getting dressed an act of art, with every accessory, accent and stitch. And with the same spirit of the vintage markets and roadshows where these objects today are found, we continue to take our makeshift dressing room on the road. Our team is on a constant quest throughout Italy to unveil the magnificent textiles and textures that make clothing and accessories the sort of covetable, treasured pieces Dolce Vita’s dreams are made of.

TDS takes you on a tour of Italy like no other… not to mention to some of the most iconic hotspots in this Southern Mediterranean jewel of a nation. Have you ever been to a pop-up store at a five-star iconic hotel by Lago di Como or a resort on the Italian Riviera? Through our storytelling and knack for illustrating a sense of place (so vivid you can almost smell the aroma of the espresso and Margherita pizza), we’ll take you there! And you’ll also be privy to special collections and collabs made with you in mind.
Each TDS product is carefully procured to ensure that it meets one, if not all of our four sustainable pillars: Destined for Circularity, Ethically Made, incorporates Conscious Materials and/or Reduces Waste. As the ecological crisis deepens, so does our commitment to partnering with like-minded brands and individuals.

A large portion of our products are hand-made or made-to-order. By supporting artisan craft and the work of the seamstresses and tailors who represent the backbone of Italian fashion, we are proponents of change and by becoming a part of our community, you too are playing a part in changing how fashion is consumed, for the better.

Women-to-Women
The Dressing Screen is a female-driven business, built by women, selling mostly to women. That’s why we shine a light on female icons in and around fashion and art — all of whom have empowering stories to impart on our customers and readers.
Because we value the people making our fashion, charities and cooperatives are at the heart of our community. Our most-recent endeavor supports Cooperativa Alice, a Milan-based non-profit that employs and nurtures women who are currently in prison or who have criminal records by giving them a second chance in life.
