A TOUR OF PALAZZO AVINO, WITH TAMU MCPHERSON’S BUCKET LIST

For fashion afficionados, Tamu McPherson doesn’t need any introduction. To refresh the memory of those who have not had the pleasure to meet (even virtually) her eclectic personality: Tamu is a blogger, photographer, editor and much more. After her debut as a street style photographer in 2006 for Glamour.it, she started writing for Vogue Pelle and became a collaborator for Elle Italia. Tamu then launched her website All the Pretty Birds site in 2008, as a portfolio of her work. Before becoming Editor-in-Chief of Grazia.it in 2011, she was a contributor to print and online publications such as Glamor US, Harper’s Bazaar US, Metro and Refinery 29. Later, she developed her position as Style Director at the international creative agency Out There, which she still covers today. Tamu currently alternates between the publications of All the Pretty Birds and the creation of content for luxury brands: a digital talent applied to the fields of photography, style and fashion journalism.
Today, she reminisces with us a few moments of her stay on the Amalfi Coast at PALAZZO AVINO.
THINGS TO DO IN 24 HOURS IN RAVELLO:
I was here for a wedding. I always exercise in the morning, and the road that goes down from the hotel is amazing; you can see the whole panorama of the town, its roofs… It is beautiful for a run or a walk. And then try one of the 100 Martinis of the Lobster and Martini Bar of Palazzo Avino! The time of the pink sunset is incredible.
LOCAL CRAFTS TO CONQUER
All the little shops are divine. In the square there is a very nice shoemaker who makes typical custom-made sandals in no time.
MUST-HAVE ITEMS TO BUY AT THE PINK CLOSET
I got some splendid shoes from The Attico, and I also loved the dresses with the colorful ruffles. There is also a great choice of headbands, from Bluetiful to Marina Fossati, and the unique bags by Officina del Poggio.
WHAT TO EAT:
A must is the the Avino Pizza at the Clubhouse by the Sea in Palazzo Avino: There is the best pizza combining mozzarella, burrata, anchovies from Cetara, yellow tomatoes and Sfusato Zest Amalfitano. Another must-have dish is the White Lemon Salad!
WHAT TO ALWAYS BRING IN YOUR SUITCASE …
A nice cover up, which is versatile to wear during the day, but it also works as a dress in the evening! And a pair of jeans never fails.
… AND WHAT TO LEAVE IN THE CITY:
Closed shoes: better sandals at all times!
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT AGAIN?
I would love to go to Pompei too, I haven’t had the chance to visit it yet.
