Delve into the past and imagine yourself in a Belle Époque oasis in the heart of the Azalea Riviera.
A privileged view of the lake, the expanse of a 20,000 square meter park and the nearby botanical gardens of the fabled Villa Carlotta, await you at Bellagio’s Grand Hotel Tremezzo, a historic landmark that has been attracting travellers to the shores of Lake Como for decades.
Our guests are drawn to mementos that mirror the colors and emotions of their days on the lake… This is how our T Shop was born, a real treasure chest of Made in Italy items that tell a story. It’s a story of Italian style, of aesthetic appreciation and uniqueness.
People depart with objects, vessels of their memories, rigorously handcrafted and in a special way that reflects my personal taste as well, explains Valentina De Santis, ceo of this splendid family hotel and whose experience in fashion and as a luxury consultant has established her as a purveyor of fine Italian luxury.
Italian Authenticity at Grand Hotel Tremezzo
Infusing every detail or our hotel with true Italian style is our philosophy… From our family-style hospitality, to the furnishings and to the gourmet experience
Our T Shop exudes a sense of Italian pride and craftsmanship, where each item is specifically chosen to represent the excellence our beautiful country has to offer. Our goal is to make our roots shine. As for Como, our silk tradition is foremost.
Our clothing selection embodies the area’s expertise, which is why we started working with the family behind the Bini label, an established name in the Como silk industry, already active in this sector. We chose some archive prints and our favorite patterns, making custom-made clothing just for our boutique. Emblematic historical renderings of the Belle Époque era on the lake illustrate the spirit of this period, its unique and timeless charm.
For day and evening dresses, explains Valentina, the hotel’s boutique showcases the Zilea brand: a niche Como-based label known for its opulent silk, floral designs.
“In my own wardrobe, Zilea dresses have a special place in my heart. Zilea operates on a limited distribution business model, which makes it even more exclusive. They are elegant and very chic, and are always eye catching,”
The Mia collection, made up of unique items and a very small number of models, is an antidote to mass-produced fashion. In fact, concludes Valentina, our guests bring home new surprises without necessarily having to venture out to major shopping promenades
“And then the collaboration with Superga… happened by chance when they asked to shoot a commercial with us. And so a personalized Superga shoe was born, designed with our historical coat of arms — a play on a classic palette of orange, white and black. We are not talking about a huge array, but one curated with quintessential Italian style. Customers go crazy! Beauty is not necessarily expensive, but it should never go out of style.”
A knack for hospitality that renders every experience unforgettable and an attention to detail present in every nook and cranny of the hotel – from the furnishings to the gourmet experience… The pride of feeling truly Italian is perfectly reflected in our T Shop, where each item has been specifically chosen to reflect the excellence of our beautiful country. Our main goal is showing off our roots, especially our Comasco origins. Our silk tradition is the first that comes to mind.
One example is the Beltrami sheets made with birch fibres that make sleeping in the suites of our hotel, an experience similar to sleeping on a cloud. “A lot of clients have asked us about our sheets and that’s why we started to make made-to-measure sets for those who seek a 5-star experience at home.
There is a strong desire to take a piece of our hotel home, so we decided to launch a collaboration with Made in Italy brand Moreschi, which created a line of bedroom decor, small leather accessories in our unmistakable. shade of orange.”
In addition, colorful glasses by Carlo Moretti, blown one by one, in the Venetian artisan enclave of Murano, have rapidly become best sellers in our boutique. Customers also admire them in the special mise en place of our restaurant.
The Gualtiero Marchesi terrace is one of the finest restaurants in the nation. A mecca of Italian cuisine, customers are privy to the exclusive, signature dishes of the heralded Master of Italian cuisine. His renowned Riso e Oro (Rice and Gold) is one of our major attractions.”We are the only restaurant in the world to still serve it. Since serving the 50,000th dish, we started to accompany each one with a certificate with a number that marks how many total Riso e Oro dishes have been served. This also renders it even more of a unique experience.”
A Romantic Scent
It’s not just about the impeccable gardens. At the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, roses cornice the majestic halls and walkways and are also the main olfactory inspiration behind the hotel’s signature fragrance Aqua Como.
“It is our perfume — a project that we finalized six years ago, so we could interpret the charm of our world through a fragrance. It’s the one that guests take in as they walk through our corridors. The petals plucked from our gardens, the mineral elements and the freshness of our lake water is what makes it unique.”
Eau de parfum, candles and indoor fragrances are among the small gifts to give and receive that give people the sense that they are on vacation. “Today, I can say they are among our top sellers, along with our home decor selection — items which are certainly not lacking in my own home. We often catch our guests wearing Supergas and bathing suits during their stay here, along with Bobo, our bear mascot that our small guests receive upon check-in, as a special welcome.”
For those interested in a small wearable token, we have Grand Hotel Tremezzo foulards that display the history of the hotel and when it’s opened, it reveals silvery reflections and contrasting prints. It’s a photographic effect with a huge impact and refined flair,” concludes Valentina. “Also the splendid Villa Balbianello foulards are so artistic that some even choose to have them framed.”
